Hair has become the symbol of the Iranian women's resistance movement which boiled over after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini following alleged torture by Iran's 'morality police' over incorrectly wearing her hijab.
For many Iranian women, cutting off hair – a sign of beauty that is decreed to be hidden in the Islamic Republic – is a poignant form of protest against injustice.
